It is a platform in which scholars of color are purposefully celebrated. It’s a space where scholars of color are showcased front and center. It is a digital space where we feel empowered and resilient. Let us get to know each other. Let us cheer each other on AND show the world what we have to offer.

Name: Marietess Molina Masulit

Gender Pronouns: she/her/isuna

What do you currently do for work and/or school?: Program & Career Pathways Coordinator, Ethnic Studies Lecturer - Sacramento State

Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: A brown skin Pinay and the daughter of Ilocano immigrants. I regularly try to remind myself that if it were not for my ancestors I would not be in the positions I am now, which honestly strengthens and grounds me in my values every day. Also, an Aries sun and Cancer rising.

What are you passionate about?: I feel like there’s so much! In the simplest terms I am passionate about empowering others and building impactful relationships. One of the aspects I enjoy the most about working directly with students is literally being able to see over time their growth and development, personally and professionally. I deeply value the relationships I have and just really wish to see everyone flourish in all their authenticity, surrounded by love and healing energy.

Why is the representation of scholars of color important to you?: The representation of scholars of color is soooo important! For one, just the visibility of scholars of color allows historically marginalized communities to see the possibility. It is so empowering to see others who share similarities in histories and experiences as you! As a student, I would always feel validated when I would see other Pinays and women of color in positions of leadership. It helped me to see myself in those positions. For so long academia, and society, has left out the stories and contributions of communities of color, which continue to be minoritized and placed at the margins. Seeing the representation of scholars of color helps to empower our communities and recognize our strengths and resiliency.

If people are interested in getting connected to you, how can they?: Social Media IG @_marietess or LinkedIn
